Creators (Writers) Block... Encouragement for The Soul
In life those who are creative tend to have alot of drama going on in thier lives. This is one of the main ingredients to creating. Art imitates life; this is true and in saying that we must take advantage of the opportunities that lie before us to create within. Some life experiences can really be hurtful while you are going through are even watching others endure but once the storm calms take out that Ipad, laptop, pen and paper and let the magic begin.
I believe it is imperative to create with imagination and emotional imagery. It captivates your audience and gives them an opportunity to relate to the scenario at hand. As time goes by you will experience many situations, take the best from it all. The good, the bad and the ugly! It's been a long time since I wrote a blog because life has been happening and I haven't come back to this place til now. Yet I have much to explore and elaborate on. I will share as much as I feel led to.... Know your purpose in this life and walk in it. I was created to write! Yes and I believe in me and my ability to do so. Never give up on your dreams and passion. No one has the visions that you are given for they are unique and divine.
Know that as time goes by your purpose is revealed and the matters of your heart may be healed from the inside out. You are the projector of your destiny. Walk into each day knowing that you were granted access to succeed! Each breath you take should be your push into progression. Let you inner creativity take you to the next level. You are your greatest supporter, no one will encourage you more than you can encourage yourself. Go for it! There is nothing that can keep you from your destiny but YOU... So PRESS on my brothers and sister and make room for the Greater that is on the way within you Destiny.
Peace and Blessings,
Sistah Kenya

Keeping the Creative Flow Going...
Often times as writers and intuitive creative beings, there will come a time in your life, when your creative juices will seem to cease. Don't be alarmed it's normal!! I call it writers block. There are many ways to deal with this type of situation.
I made my life experience become the subject of my written word. I used words of thought and affirmations to inspire, encourage, and sometimes even persuade me into doing what I knew I had to do. When you are truly a creative writer within your spirit it's usually what helps you cope, live, maintain, stay alive; by all means. If that be the case you must protect this craft and nurture it at all costs.
I created 2 beautiful novels during times when I felt I had writers block... I created several poems that later in turn encouraged me to press on through my trials in life. I have created several short stories just to keep my mind going and sharp. Somethings I have created may never see the light of day, but that is okay. That just means it was an assignment just for me.
So take some time within your life today to see where you are in your time and space. Are you in a state of writers block? Do you want to come out? Or would you rather just linger in a world of limbo with your words of thought being left in the dark? You choose today.. Your thoughts are relevant in life and someone somewhere is waiting to hear it, read it or even speak it. It is up to you on whether or not they ever get it.
Well there you have it... Today's rendition of Keeping the Creative Flow of Writing Going!!!

- Ignore the state and explore by continuing to write a little everyday..even if it's just words of thought that don't really have meaning of expression.
- Give yourself some time and just take a break from creative writing
- Force yourself to write like never before to break through the silent state

A Look into My Second Novel- BREAKTHROUGH
BREAKTHROUGH
It’s been three years since the grand opening ofKaramel City . One of ATL’s finest club and strip
joints owned by me and my hubby. Kenneth and I ventured into this strip club
lounge business with intentions of making it a lifetime investment. Well he’s
still head over heels about keeping his hand in the cookie jar so to speak, but
I would rather we let it go completely.
Chapter
One
Introduction:
Shakira Jones
It’s been three years since the grand opening of
I mean we already have some responsible brothers running it
for us. So why not sell it? We have saved enough money over the past three
years to start another business of some sort.
Since I have been making good money dancing at the Atlanta Performance Theatre
I figured we could afford to let Karamel
City go.
Don’t get me wrong this was my baby too, but times have
changed and I definitely have. God has blessed me so allowing me to grow and
spiritually mature. Every since I got saved, accepting Jesus as my Lord and
Savior and joined my best friend Keyone’s church, things have changed.. I have
allowed God to start purging me of all things. I know I can’t continue to have my hands tied
in worldly things.
Yes it is a business but from the spiritual realm it
represents so much more. Kenneth seems to be a little more attached than I. I
guess because he has been the one spending all his time there. It has become
his career and bread winner.
At one time I was the only Headliner at Karamel City !
After we got married I decided to stop head lining. Kenneth was surprised; he
figured I would strip for life but when God changes you-He changes you! It
hasn’t happened over night either. This is a daily ongoing journey that I
strive to do everyday. I finally decided to let God lead me even in my career
choices. I prayed for better opportunities and they came!
I was blessed with a job as a professional dancer. The
theatre takes up much of my time and I am so engulfed with the broad way scene
that exotic dancing has become unattractive to me. I never thought the day would come when I
would not want to strip! I knew I couldn’t do it forever. I thought the urge
would always be there but since I have begun to allow God to change me it’s
not! Kenneth says I make too much of the whole thing. He says that we can live
our lives and be blessed by God and still have our business…

Writing Poetry
INTRODUCTION:
When I was in grade school English and Language Arts were my favorite subjects!!
I was very intrigued by the creativity that lied within the vocabulary words I learned.
Spelling was my favorite subject and writing stories and essays were second nature to me.
Now that you know that about me perhaps that will give you some insight on the reason I
believe writing poetry is quite simple.
There are many different variations of poems. Some rhyme, tell stories, or are very abstract!
Here are a few types:
- Acrostic
- Cinquain
- Concrete
- Limerick
- Haiku
In Acrostic poems, the first letters of each line are aligned vertically to form a word. The word often is the subject of the poem.
Example:
Kindhearted and Loving
Encouraging others always
Natural in every aspect of the way
Youthful at heart
Ambitous and motivated
Cinquain poems are five lines long with a certain number of syllables or words in each. Cinquain poems do not rhyme. There are many ways to write cinquain poems. Concrete poems form a picture of the topic or follows the contour of a shape that is suggested by the topic. A Limerick is a funny little poem containing five lines. The last words of the first, second, and fifth lines rhyme with each other (A) and the last words of the third and fourth lines rhyme with each other so the pattern is AABBA. It should also have a rhythm pattern, like da DUM da da DUM da da DUM for the first, second, and fifth lines (A)and da da DUM da da DUM for the third and fourth lines.
Honestly I believe I use a combination of all of these when writing. Ironic isn't it? I start off one way and end another. I'm not really good at writing short poems but I will try to demonstrate one for you...
I am a black butterfly
In the morning when I arise
Black butterfly that's me
HAIKU
Writing poetry is as simple as the creator allows it to be.. If it come easy and naturally for you as it does for me then you will catch on . Otherwise it will be more of a task . Writing in general can be a favorite past time. So if you haven't tried it maybe you should.
Well there you have it, another Blog entry in the Writers Knook!!
